Introduction to Online Therapy: Theory, Ethics and Practice

One day workshop with Dr Kate Anthony FBACP
Time: 10am to 5pm

Workshop overview

This one day workshop will be a flexible introduction to online therapy and counselling. This topic is important as young people are spending more of their time online. The day starts with an introduction to what technologies are being used with clients or by clients- from text-based modalities such as email and chat, through to virtual environments. We will study the core theoretical proponents of online behaviour and how these effect the therapeutic relationship, before looking at the essential skills needed to communicate with your clients online in a safe and ethically based manner. Kate will focus on the ethics of online therapy and online counselling in the afternoon. We will also touch on responsible social networking and the pitfalls of using social media sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn as a modern day practitioner.
