Willow Bike Baskets

Willow Bike Baskets (suitable for experienced basket makers)

£130.00

Description

Tutor: Debbie Hall
Date: Wednesday 15/11/17 to Thursday 16/11/17
Time: 10am - 4.30pm
Price: £130

Learn how to make your own bike basket, using willow in a range of rich colours. This two-day workshop, led by local basket maker and willow grower Debbie Hall, is suitable for those with previous experience and confidence making stake and strand baskets. There will be opportunity to extend your skills by learning different techniques including 'D' shaped bases, scalloming and different side-weaves. We will also cover the practicalities of what sort of frame to buy and how to fix it to your bike! The two-day workshop will allow plenty of time to absorb techniques properly without rushing, and to produce a lovely basket to grace the front of your bike. If you don't have a bike (or don't want to expose your lovely creation to the elements) their curved fronts and flat backs mean they also make great wall baskets.

Note: The Botanic Garden closes at 4pm in November so participants will not have access to the Garden when this course finishes.
