Our September 2026 Social Data School (SDS) is themed Investigating AI infrastructures and is a critical, hands-on school in which we investigate the material and social impacts of AI infrastructure. This thematic focus is an opportunity to gain key skills in investigations that deploy data and data analysis. Our modules cover the lifecycle of a digital research project, principles of research design, data collection, cleaning and preparation, methods of organisation and analysis, as well as critical coding. There are sessions on critical data visualisation, surveillance, and understanding what machine learning is and is not.
